Glenelg Bathrooms: To Chain or Not to Chain

Seventy-seven percent.    
That is the percent increase in E-cigarette use among high school students as compared to 2017, as stated in Truth Initiative. Today, numerous teens are found to consume nicotine more often than usual. According to Truth Initiative, 56% of those aged 15-17 who have vaped in the past month have used their device on three or more days. The use of such devices have clearly displayed an abrupt increase, and they have been found in school environments as well.

Every year on March 14, the students and staff at Glenelg High School celebrate an unique holiday: Pi day! For those who are unfamiliar with what Pi is, it is a mathematical symbol (π) that is approximately 3.14, which is the date it is celebrated. The search for Pi was first done approximately 4,000 years ago by the Babylonians and Egyptians; however, it is unclear as to how it was discovered.

Glenelg Broadway Connections: A Program Like No Other

​Lights, camera, action! On Friday, March 1st, the Glenelg Broadway Connections program (GBC) performed their unique interpretation of the ‘first day of high school’ in front of a tremendous crowd. The performance, starring a combination of Glenelg students with special needs and our very own Theatre Department, was truly a marvel to experience.

Glenelg High School CANNOT Ball Out

The first GHS basketball tournament, Glenelg BallOut, was set to take place on Wednesday March 20. Hosted by the Glenelg High School Class of 2021, the winners of the tournament are granted the ultimate prize of pride and bragging rights. Unfortunately, due to a lack of participation from the student body, the event was cancelled.

​'Tis the season for promposals! Prom is right around the corner, on April 6th, to be exact: less than one month away from the big night at the lakefront Sheraton Hotel in Columbia. Girls have been shopping for the right dress and boys have been looking for the ideal tuxedo to match their date. The night would not be complete without the right date and the perfect way to ask your date to prom.
