The Glenelg Book Club meets once a month on a Friday from 2:15—4:00. Book Club members have Book Club Kindles which contain all the books for the year, as well as many books from the past 11 years when it has been sponsored by Ms. Currie-Scott. They read the MD One Book through a MD Humanities Grant, and 3 of the MD Black Eyed Susans for High School so they can vote for the state award. The remainder of the books are chosen through member recommendations. The club historically has about 30 readers who represent many different groups from GHS. It has always contained a mix of students from various school groups, grades, diverse back grounds and genders. We have discussions and do activities related to the books we read and the universal themes within them, as well as relate these themes to our lives utilizing a modified peace circle format. All are welcome to join us for snacks, a love of books, and the best discussions ever! (Even if you did not get to read the whole book.) Chris Lewis, Nico Wenzel, and Sierra Rohmann are the officers who keep the club running this year for Ms. Currie-Scott. Comments are closed.
