The Robotiators, a nationally acclaimed robotics team, meets every Tuesday and Thursday right after school in room 174, 175, and 176 from 2:15 to around 4:00. When January comes, the Glenelg Robotiators meet every school day from 2:15 to 4:15, and on Saturdays, they meet from 9 am to 4 pm. The Robotiators build, code, decorate, and designs robots that compete in competitions.
In 2019 and 2020, the Robotiators won finals, third in safety, and best autonomous code. The Glenelg Robotiators is the first robotics team established in Howard County, which has been successfully running and competing for around twenty years. Alongside all the competitions, the Robotiators reach out to the community by making and donating masks and printed 3D models of STEM kits for underprivileged kids. The sponsor of the Glenelg Robotiators, Raymond Gerstner, explained how the club is about more than just the robot, “...it’s to be here, be involved, and be part of a team”. Mr. Gerstner, alongside the leads of Robotics, Vivian Contreras, Jacob Lee, Colin Costella, and Ryan Cather, all work together to promote curiosity, problem-solving, and knowledge towards anyone who is interested in the STEM field.
