With the 10-day break upon us, you may find yourself scrambling to figure out what to do with yourself. Look no further as the Glenelg Shield has put together the top 5 activities to do in Maryland this holiday season.
1. Skiing or Snowboarding

Going skiing or snowboarding during this winter is sure to be a great experience. Last year we did not have much of a winter so the slopes were not in good shape. The nearby resorts all opened late and closed early. Hopefully the cycle will not repeat this year and skiing will be open all winter long.

2. Movie marathon
When it gets cold and windy outside, staying in might be the best option. Nothing beats a movie marathon. From creating your own to participating in things like Freeforms’s holiday marathon. Setting down with some snacks and hot chocolate is a recipe for fun.

3. Ice skating
Ice Skating is an activity that all ages can enjoy. The ice rink in Columbia offers free skates multiple times a day. However, their schedule does change so it’s best to check their website before you go as what is on Google is not always accurate.

4. Build a snowman
Building snowmen is an activity that most have done since they were kids. Why not give it another try, snow permitting. It can be a great addition to holiday decorations outside a house. Customizing the snowman with your own accessories is a way to add a personal touch to your holiday decorations.

5.  Go see the Columbia light show
The Merriweather Symphony of Lights located in Merriweather Post Pavilion runs every winter. They cover the space in holiday-themed lights. You can drive or walk through. Tickets start at $15 and can be found on their website.
