Freshman year is often the most challenging year for a student. Not prevalently academic, but integrating themselves into the school community serves as its own mountain. Some find it hard to escape their comfort zone and participate in the community.

That is why Gladiators on the Horizon was created. This group of Glenelg juniors and seniors, led by counselors Carolyn Devlin and Mindy Hirsch mentors incoming freshmen through the seemingly horrifying life of high school.

The club recently organized a winter social event for new students, which served as a check-in and winter celebration for new students, with food and hot chocolate being served as well.

In addition, there were various activities such as creating paper snowflakes and a scattergories game that was winter themes.

The goal of the event? To see if the actions of Gladiators on the Horizon has made a difference in the integration of freshmen into Glenelg High, as well as a fun way to celebrate the upcoming holiday/winter season.
