Ramzy Ahmed: The Future of Cardio Practice

5/8/2017

By Nicole King

Ramzy Ahmed is a current Senior at Glenelg High School. While at Glenelg, he has participated in many clubs and teams to benefit his future. Some of these include Glenelg Soccer, Key Club, Math National Honors Society, and Gladiators of the Horizon. The main goal of joining such clubs is to gain community service and to give back. He could not have survived his four years at Glenelg without the preparation Glenelg gave him. Without such grueling classes offered at Glenelg, he claims he would not have had enough experience to feel prepared for his upcoming classes in college.

Ahmed plans to attend the University of Maryland College Park in the fall of 2017 where he hopes to fulfill his dream to give back to his community. He will achieve this goal by not only doing well in school, but joining different programs. Since he plans to study and major in Biology, he wishes to join an assortment of medical clubs. With his father already being a professional doctor, following in his footsteps was never a question. Ahmed knew he wanted do big things just like his father. This is why he is choosing to go towards the cardiology route of the medical industry. There he can increase his knowledge on how the human body works and save lives all at once.

With hopes that he will get into a good fellowship program, he wants to work with other doctors to gain as much knowledge as possible to prevent, diagnose, and give care to his future patients. Not only does he plan to get a doctorate in cardiology, but he plans to “Get good grades, have fun, expose himself to new people from around the world, and gain more knowledge to help him decide where he wants to go later on in his life.” Living on his own away from home will also give him a good amount of independence to help guide him through college. It was not an easy decision for him on where to attend, but with the university's good academics, location, and clubs, he knew Maryland was the right choice for him. In the summer, he will be attending an orientation to plan out what classes he should take and plan his schedule. Even though he knows college is all a lot to handle, he is ready for a busy workload and has many tips to help manage it such as planning ahead of time and knowing deadlines of all assignments.

If all goes as planned, he will be a cardiologist in ten years. Along with this, he wants to find time in his busy work schedule to marry a wife or husband (he has not decided). Hopefully, he can then settle down with her/him and start his family. Though for now, he is focusing on finishing off his high school journey strong with A’s in all his AP classes. His advice to incoming Seniors is to, “Do your best and enjoy the weekends.” Ahmed has had a memorable experience in high school and hopes everyone in Glenelg’s future years do as well.
