By Evan Whatley The Ford Mustang Mach-E coming out for sale in late 2020 and officially made public in 2021 is Ford’s all new electric car. Ford is releasing their first electric car to compete with the likes of Tesla, Jaguar, and Audi. The all new Mach E has been promoted on its ability to go from zero to sixty miles per hour in approximately 3 seconds and long range of mileage. Ford, the originator of American cars, has lasted for over 116 years and has continuously produced high quality automobiles. Henry Ford, the owner of Ford Automobiles, is the inventor of the assembly line and one of the most prestigious car companies of the 20th and 21st century. Ford has made the decision to join in on the newest trend of the decade, the electric car; a car that does not need gas, is environmentally friendly, and fuel and cash efficient. Tesla has owned the market of electric cars; however, Glenelg Junior, Nick Kingsbury, believes, “Once established brands such as Ford and Chevy enter the electric car market, electric cars will be much cheaper and more efficient.” Tesla was the first company to enhance and develop a car which ran fully off electricity, not relying on gas. When people hear electric cars immediately Tesla comes to mind, “Tesla has done an amazing job with developing the future of cars and I am really impressed.” said Glenelg Junior William Kinyashi. Tesla’s innovative ideas are pushing many other companies into making better and more efficient cars. The Ford motor company new Mach-E is one of the most fuel efficient cars of the 21st century with a range of 47 miles in under 10 minutes. The Mach-E provides all wheel drive and exceptional handling and capability. With a starting price of 43,895 dollars the Mach-E has many available upgrades for the interior and exterior of the car, including leather seats, larger battery size, and a vertical touch screen. Many people are still undecided about electric cars and their future, Glenelg Sophomore Justin Maloney stated, “I understand how electric cars are beneficial, but I really don’t care that much.” While many people have no interest in electric cars and the future of automobiles in general, some believe electric cars benefits surpass its downsides. Junior Derek Spratley believes, “Electric Cars are great for the environment and I would 100 percent buy one in the future if there were more charging stations around.” The lack of charging stations and efficiency in mileage for electric cars creates a large question mark for buying. Most consumers agree there are multiple benefits to electric cars but as of now, there are too many drawbacks. The electric car is a revolutionary idea for one of the most essential modes of transportation for mankind, and the continuous innovation towards automobiles pushes humans towards an easier and better life.
