A wide variety of people partake in the classic summer activities such as going to the beach or pool, or just hanging out with friends. But what happens when you and your friends get bored of the everyday summer routine? Well here is a short list of some unique activities that will for sure make for a memorable summer day.

Many memories and words come to the mind when the name Mr. Singleton is heard. Some people think about his weekly essays, his British accent, his world travels, and his kind personality. With his impending retirement, staff and students will miss him walking through the hallways and spreading his joy. By Amanda Sames
In a school full of 1,196 students, it is difficult to know everyone in your grade. There are 290 students in the Senior class this year, so there will be many remarkable people walking across the stage whom some people may not know. One person in particular, Gabriella Cawley, is an exceptional Senior graduating this year. By Sarah Cipolla Glenelg High School students who take part in the Students Against Destructive Decisions (S.A.D.D) worked tirelessly throughout the school year to keep the community aware of the destructive decisions that reckless people can make. The week before prom, Seniors and Juniors participated in the Glenelg Ghost Out, tested out the drunk driving simulation, and listened to a presentation by a former Glenelg student.

From sports, academics, and constant family pressure, Howard County is possibly one of the most competitive and stressful environments for someone to grow up in. In order to tackle such an alarming issue within the students of our community, the Howard County Board of Education recently proposed a new homework and grading policy which limits the amount of homework a student is assigned every night. Lights! Camera! Action—and all that jazz! During the last four days of March, Glenelg High School’s Theater Department put on a spectacular performance of Chicago in the high school’s auditorium. From flapper dresses and jazz to murder and adultery, Chicago had it all. The play was based on the true story of two murderesses competing for fame and manipulating their way out of the imminent demise they faced from their crimes. |
