The May time holiday for honoring those who gifted us with life is nearly upon us. Whilst recognizing the impact our mothers have upon our lives is not difficult, sometimes finding the perfect gift for expressing these sentiments is.
With Mother’s Day falling on the 13th of May this year, planning out a celebration of the women who molded us into the individuals we are now is imminent. Here we have compiled a few gifts outside of the atypical flowers and chocolate that are sure to make any mother smile.

Spa Kit/Trip
What mom doesn’t need some time to relax? A spa basket or a gift card to a spa is a great way to give your mom some time off! If you intend to create a basket, we recommend putting a facemask, essential oils, body scrub and any other product you think will make your mom smile. If you would rather purchase a gift card and plan a day for your mom to go to a spa, some great ones near Glenelg are The Pearl and The Spa at Turf Valley. Junior Taylor Currie scheduled a spa trip for her and her mom, “With Chris (her older brother) out of the house my mom has been trying to spend as much time with me as possible. A trip to the spa should be a perfect opportunity to bond and relieve stress.”

Customized Necklace
There are endless types of customizable necklaces sure to make your mom happy. Most include options to put children’s names, birthstones, or birthdays. A great place to look for that perfect necklace is Etsy. There are thousands of different companies selling numerous variations of Mother’s Day necklaces. Glenelg Junior Tyler Smith got his mother a necklace for mother’s day last year. “Honestly, I think it’s just the perfect go-to, necklaces are a traditional gift and what mom doesn’t like jewelry?”

Fitness Tracker
With the trend of fitness bands and watches becoming more and more popular, let your mom get in on the action. Many of these devices double as watches so functionality is not a concern. Make sure to shop around for devices that match your mom fashion and lifestyle. Additional bands can also be included for extra flair. Glenelg Senior Glenn Brown and his family got his mom an Apple Watch this year. He says that, “she has been asking for one for a while so we decided it was the right time to get her one.” Apple Watches are among the most popular fitness trackers, however there are a wide varieties of others if your mom doesn’t have an iPhone.

A Weekend of Help
Offering your weekend to help your mom accomplish any goals she may have is a great low-cost gift that is sure to show her how much you care about her. Maybe she wants help cleaning out the garage, or maybe she wants to plant a garden. Whatever it may be, a weekend of helping your mom is a great way to spend quality time with her. In addition to spending time with your mom, (a gift all mothers are sure to love) you can get work done around the house which doubles the productivity of this gift. Planning out a weekend for quality bonding time over an activity is a perfect gift from a Junior or Senior whom is soon to be college bound.

This Mother’s Day make sure you show your mom how much she means to you with a meaningful gift from the heart. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter how much the gift costs, as long as you make it memorable. Be sure to let us know what you end up doing for your mom this Mother’s Day.
