By Kruthin Mu[ppidi and Evan McCollum DS Automobiles has amazed the world with their new concept of the X E Tense. As Tesla took consumers by storm and dropped their jaws to the floor, DS was calmly improving their own ace to set the stage for the future of automobiles This car’s concept was designed and implemented by DS Automobiles. This brand originates from the French concept of luxury. The DS brand uses only the highest quality of materials that are then crafted precisely by hand. This quality is recognized by one of it’s more recent partners, the Louvre Museum. Along with its other two partners who are SkyArts and Moynat, a prestigious company that specializes in French style leather helmets.
It’s a completely asymmetrical car that has two halves. Suvin Kim, a GHS student, said “It’s [looks are] pretty fair” because he believes it’s looks are exceptional. This may be common belief that looks are very important to a car. SBenny Lin, a GHS student, had a contradictory opinion about the car’s looks and said “It’s weird”.The right half is the passenger side with a glass floor and floating seat along with a seat that can perform massages. While the left side is the driving half with an open top, it doesn’t have to be occupied because it has an autopilot feature. Pradham Charasalla, a GHS Freshman, said “It’s cool, but difficult. I like autopilot, it’s so much [safer].” It has a radical feature where it can revert back to its original form after a collision. The lighting inside the car can be regulated by its occupants unlike current cars that have only one light setting. It’s also electric, meaning it’s output isn’t as harmful as most orthodox cars. The cockpit is accessed by a door that is trimmed with a carbon fibre/leather and shaped like elytra, also known as the wing cases of a moth. Eventually, the eyes are drawn to the triangle, which adapts perfectly to the driver’s body like the fitted seats seen in motor racing. The steering wheel, ‘vis-à-vis,’ meanwhile represented the passion for automobiles, is an interesting combination of leather, wood and metal. The see-through electro-chromatic glass floor gives a view of the road as it flashes beneath the car, while the cocoon's unique composure of leather, wood and metal draws the eye. The navy blue and rich red hues soften the light that enters the car, while the look of the lines is multiplied by the absence of screens, with the role of the familiar tablet screen played by the car's surfaces. Along with the grille the X E Tense’s headlight design will appear on future DSs too, probably within the next five years. This ‘light veil’ is made up of 1,500 LEDs that are spread over the lower part of the car. This car may determine the future of the automobile world as it integrates cutting edge technology and a commonly used product. This would cater to the needs of an average person and not just kill our planet for its usage. The car will be released in the near future and it’s price hasn’t been disclosed but is expected to push it far out of reach, but in a few years, just like all trends, it’ll drop in price as it slowly loses its place among the newest tech just like Tesla is slowly becoming more common. This car could be easily accessible to many people in a few years as its price drops. Sometime in the future when the X E Tense is more accessible to the common citizen, society may even see people with it such as high schoolers. It would be the ultimate ‘flex,’ as the X E Tense would more than likely cost over one million dollars. They wouldn’t need to worry about getting to school on time with how much horsepower this car has, and the looks only add to the benefits. Comments are closed.
