Wrapping up after the release of the second part of the Infinity Saga, Avengers: Endgame, fans have been wondering about what is next to come after this new movie.
Rapping up after the release of the second part of the Infinity Saga, Avengers: Endgame, fans have been wondering about what is next to come after this new movie. It's already been publicized that both Robert Downey JR’s and Chris Evans’s have reached the end of their contracts. Most likely fans will not be seeing them in the next phase of the MCU(Marvel Cinematic Universe). But the title of Captain America has been given to Anthony Mackie’s character, Falcon. As for Iron Man, we will most likely not see him again in the next phase of the MCU. We know that there is going to be another sequel to the Guardians Of The Galaxy, but due to James Gunn’s firing, the film has been delayed to debut in 2021. In that same year, other films are scheduled to be released. Sequels to Dr. Strange and Black Panther, and a solo Black Widow film that will take place before she joined the Avengers. Marvel is also planning on introducing more characters that most fans of the movies don’t know such as the Eternals, and Shang-Chi. There will also be stand alone shows for a few members of the Avengers.

Disney is soon releasing a video subscription service this November called Disney Plus. On this service Disney plans to release several shows revolving around certain members of the Avengers cast. Some of the shows will take place after the ending of Avengers Endgame and others will take place between Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will return in a show focused on their Marvel characters, Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany will likely be starring in a show focusing on where Scarlet Witch and Vision were in the time after Civil War and before Infinity War. There is also a possibility that Hawkeye will get a series, focusing on his “retirement,” that we got to see at the beginning of Avengers Endgame. The series could start off with him training his daughter to become the new Hawkeye.

People on the internet are also curious about what Marvel will plan to do with the X-Men. Disney recently has paid for the rights to add the X-MEN characters to the MCU. This year’s X-men movie, Dark Phoenix, will be the last X-men film produced by 20th Century Fox. Of course we expect to see some iconic members of the X-men. But with the X-men being added to the MCU, it does bring some questions that need to be answered. Will Wolverine be included? And, who will be the new Wolverine? The last time we saw the character was in 2017’s LOGAN, where we saw Hugh Jackman’s last film as the character. He acted as the Wolverine for seventeen years, and many people are wondering if we will ever see the character again. In an interview for LOGAN, Hugh Jackman was asked if we will ever see the character again, he responds, “Oh, he’ll be back.” Anthony Scaltz, an English teacher at Glenelg high school, gave his thoughts of what should happen. “Marvel should really just retire the character. Just like how Robert Downey Jr. was with Iron Man. He played the character for so long that it makes sense that the character should be retired.” Many people would like to see the character be brought into the MCU, and there are many who feel the opposite. Robert Silverman, a Glenelg student, states, “It’s not worth it since Hugh Jackman ended his role as Wolverine on a high note with LOGAN. Even though he has worked with the Avengers in the comics, there's no point.”

There’s a lot to look forward to, with as much as the fans know and don’t know. Marvel wants to keep their fans interested with all of their movies and shows. Fans will just have to wait for some time to pass to see their favorite characters both on the big and small screen.
