Carstea’s Cartoon Corner: Conspiracy Theories Brought to The Screen in a Big Way!

A world where every wacky conspiracy theory you’ve seen on Facebook is true, Inside Job’s fast paced humor, incredibly unique character designs and a concept like nothing you’ve seen before makes this show an instant favorite for anyone looking to laugh at this American tongue-and-cheek humor. The show is especially entertaining for those looking to poke fun at those jumping to crazy conclusions of what our own government might be hiding from us.

Inside Job follows Reagan Ridley, a tightly strung mad scientist, working her way up the ranks in her top secret government job, Cognito. Her life’s work of robotics and a dash of world domination starts being overlooked by a newcomer, Brett Hand, picked up off the street for his handsome face and his can-do attitude! These two polar opposites, freshly promoted, are supposed to now run their team of slackers and continue hiding America’s greatest secrets that- I’m afraid I can’t share. Which all sounds doable until Regan’s father, the former CEO of Cognito comes crashing through Regan’s plans with a scheme of his own.

Lizzy Caplan, best known for playing Janis Ian in “Mean Girls”, voices the endlessly awkward yet skilled scientist Reagan. Christian Slater, plays the disgraced former CEO Rand Ridley. Clark Duke expertly voices the surprisingly sensitive frat boy Brett. Tisha Campbell, Andy Daly, Chris Diamantopoulos, John DiMaggio, Bobby Lee and Brett Gelman also play incredibly electric and interesting recurring characters.

If you love history, Gravity Falls or Regular Show, you’ll have a blast watching this cartoon. Shion Takeuchi, who has written for and produced Gravity Falls and Regular show, and Alex Hirsch, the creator of Gravity falls serve as creator and executive producer respectively. Inside Job has the same whimsical and groundbreakingly different feel as the other two cartoons mentioned above but with a historical twist. The amount of jokes written about former presidents and the government as a whole is enough to make anyone laugh out loud.

The animation covers the terrifying subject matters in bright colors and stylistic flare making it watchable, well as watchable as something can be while showing the US Government brutally kidnapping anyone who happens to find out what their hiding. From mind reading mushrooms to just your average guy, Inside Job’s character designs are so incredibly unique and expressive. The viewer is easily able to tell exactly what a character is thinking at a glance, even if the character doesn’t have a face.

This Netflix original is a great choice for anyone looking to laugh at how messed up our world can be. I’d recommend it to any mature young adult, some of the humor can be inappropriate but as a Saturday night dystopian cartoon I’d give it two robotic thumbs up! Catch Inside Job on Netflix, and tell the Shadow Board I say "hello!"
