by: Zorais Naroo Kyle Gonce’s smash hit work, Lyle vs Kyle: Part One, Calamity in the Median is well written, acted, and produced. During the ongoing harsh times of COVID-19, it provides a great escape from real world challenges with genuine feel-good fun. It only makes sense that the senior actor, lead writer, voice actor, producer, editor, and publisher plans on releasing a sequel to his great work. What once started out as a mere afterthought in October turned out to be something great in reality. "I've always wanted to create something interesting," said Gonce, who conceptualized the idea from an assignment in his Theatre Company class. "And good versus evil is always intriguing." The story revolves around a conflict between Kyle, the witty protagonist who endears the audience, and his evil nemesis Lyle. In the frightening dark streets of Columbia, MD, the two duel and Lyle narrowly escapes, before threatening to come back much stronger. This acts as the perfect setup for a sequel, which many fans hope will be released. “This should honestly be submitted to the Sundance Film Festival. A work of pure genius,” said junior Aidan Vogts. His friends, juniors Riley Suszkiw and Nevin Shatzer agree, saying Gonce's work was "genuinely entertaining.” Due to the positive reception of this work of pure art, Gonce hopes to further the Lyle vs Kyle universe and lore and host auditions for more actors. Gonce said he wishes to make part two much longer, and perhaps include die-hard fans into his passion project. Talents from part one, seniors Joe Gower, Jake Tayler, and Jackson Huffman are expected to return and continue the epic tale. Production for Lyle vs Kyle will begin over winter break if everything goes well. Watch it here. Comments are closed.
