MLB the Show 18

The MLB the Show series is the leading MLB video game in the whole world. The series, starting in 1999, has sold over 5.5 million copies. The newest game in the series, MLB the Show 18, comes out on March 27th. 

The highly anticipated video game, features Aaron Judge on the front cover. With Judge on the cover, this game is trying to highlight what every baseball fan loves, homeruns. Rookie sensation Aaron Judge hit an outstanding 52 home runs in the 2016-2017 MLB season. He fits the style of MLB the Show 18 perfectly. The game consists of three main game modes: Diamond Dynasty, Franchise, and Road to the Show. 

Diamond Dynasty is the unique gaming experience in MLB the Show where you can collect players from the present, past, and future to assemble a team and play other online players across the world. For example, a player could have Manny Machado at shortstop and Babe Ruth in the outfield. The possibilities are endless and this Diamond Dynasty season is shaping up to be the greatest in the games history.

Franchise mode is a mode where you can take control of your favorite team, lead them to the playoffs and try to take home the World Series. Any team from the past or any team from the present can be controlled in franchise mode. From the Montreal Expos to the Boston Red Sox, Franchise mode is a fun creative way to put the player in the manager's shoes.

The most popular mode, Road to the Show, is the story of your own created player. In the beginning of Road to the Show, the player designs his/her own personal baseball player. Freshman Kevin Pak played Road to the Show 17 almost everyday,“I am in love with this game, I have a ninety nine overall first-baseman, he hits bombs.” The user can give their own personal baseball player any features that they want, a player can have super-speed, super-strength, etc. The catch is, when the user is creating their own baseball player, they can only choose one feature (super-speed etc.) So, the user has to choose wisely and pick the best attribute that fits there play style. If a user loves to hit homeruns they would choose the super strength attribute, if a player wanted to fly around the base paths and steal bases they would choose the super speed ability.

All in all, MLB the Show 18 is shaping up to be a revolutionary game in the MLB the Show series. The three game modes, Diamond Dynasty, Franchise, and Road to the Show claim to be,“perfect,” by the game's developers, San DIego Studios. Freshman Mitch Walker says,”I am very excited for MLB the Show 18, I did not play the Show 17, but the graphics look amazing this year.” The hype is real for MLB the Show 18, lets see if it lives up to it.
