Nintendo held their latest Nintendo Direct on Sept. 23, showcasing their newest games for the end of 2021 and the start of 2022. Many excited fans were very glad about the various announcements. Here are a few big announcements that have fans talking:
Kirby and the Forgotten Land:
At long last, Kirby goes into the realm of 3D gaming after years and years of being in side-scrolling action. Kirby and the Forgotten Land places Kirby in a post-apocalyptic city, overgrown and decayed.

Washing up on the shore, Kirby explores this new land and the new secrets it may hold. While not a lot of information is known, we do know that his famous copy abilities return, all fitted for a new 3D environment!

While no specific release date was given, it is set to release sometime in Spring 2022.

Metroid Dread
Releasing Oct. 8, 2021, we got most likely one of our last looks at Metroid Dread before its release. While it was more of the same of what Nintendo showed beforehand, we did get a bit of information on the story.

Taking down the X Parasite again, which has been a key villain of the series for years now, Samus needs to investigate why the EMMI robots have gone dark.

Fans won't have to wait very long for this game as its release date is coming up very quickly!

Splatoon 3: Return of the Mammalians
Many were looking forward to new Splatoon 3 footage after it was announced earlier this year. In this Direct, Nintendo revealed footage of the popular multiplayer mode and story mode of their next installment for this game.

For the multiplayer mode, the footage offered more of the same what we saw the first time; Inklings just cannot get enough of their fun turf war battles. We did get to see two new specials in action though, which was a treat for the audience.

Next, the screen glitched to show a hairy Octotrooper, one of the main enemies of the game. Wait, hair on an octopus? That makes no sense! Many fans assume that the story is about finding out what in the world is going on with all of this hair! It's interesting to say the least, but it seems like the story will just be as fun and wacky as the others! Splatoon 3 will come out sometime in 2022.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
The first paid downloadable content (DLC) was announced for the popular Monster Hunter Rise in the Monster Hunter Series of games! Nintendo promised it to be a massive expansion to the original game.

Fans wonder what this new DLC will hold for the series as new beasts await. Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will come out sometime in summer 2022.
Other Headlines
Animal Crossing New Horizons Direct Announcement: An Animal Crossing Direct for new content will be broadcasted sometime in October.
Beyonetta 3: Beyonetta, now packed with new abilities, takes the spotlight again in her third game. Beyonetta 3 is planned to come out sometime in 2022.
Final Super Smash Bros Ultimate Fighter: The last DLC fighter is going to be showcased on Oct. 5 Who will the final fighter be?! We'll keep you posted!
Deltarune: Deltarune is getting a free update for chapter 2 of the series. This free update is out right now.
Nintendo Switch Online + Plan: Nintendo has announced a new online plan that comes with a library of Nintendo 64 games and SEGA Genesis games. This new plan will come out in late October.
More information
Mario Party Superstars New Game Boards: Mario Party Superstars showed off new boards and modes coming to the game! It seems like quite the party, and Mario Party Superstars comes out on Oct. 28.

That's all of the main headlines! We got through most of the announcements but still didn’t even cover them all in this packed Direct! We hope you enjoyed this coverage of the Nintendo Direct!
