By Ryan Hack In 2016, Downtown Ellicott City flooded after a major rainstorm caused a river to overflow, and then travel down the streets of the old town. A river overflowed, causing water to gush everywhere, destroying houses, shops, and businesses. Many people were injured and left homeless from the catastrophe. Since then, much recovery has taken place to rebuild Downtown Ellicott City, including houses and businesses, using the money raised during fundraising. But now, in 2018, Downtown Ellicott City flooded again, causing all the recovery from a few years ago to be destroyed from the downpour. Crews and police have been down at the scene helping residents find shelter and provide them with food, and even a church down in Ellicott City gave shelter to people who needed it.
The town came together once again to get through this terrible natural disaster, and many people who did not live or have connections there still contributed to helping in the recovery process. Hopefully once again, fundraising can raise the amount of money needed to get Downtown Ellicott City back on its feet. Comments are closed.
