In addition to sweet holiday treats, for the past few years, Starbucks has had a promotional event where on the third Thursday of November, with a purchase of a holiday beverage, patrons receive a reusable cup with one of the holiday designs (while supplies last). So, why red cups? The iconic red Starbucks holiday cups actually didn’t start off red. In 1977 when the holiday cups debuted, they were actually magenta, designed by Sandy Nelson.
