Every year around February, the immense hype around the fabled Super Bowl rises dramatically. Year in and year out, the prestigious NFL Honors awards ceremony is overshadowed by the biggest sporting event of the year. Awards such as MVP, Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year, Comeback Player of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year are given out to deserving players at the end of each season. As the spring sports season is around the corner, the Glenelg High School student athletes have been gearing up and getting in shape. March 1st is the first day of tryouts when young athletes will try to make their sport of choice. During the long winter break, many athletes find it difficult to get in shape, but Glenelg students have found ways to stay in shape aside from everyday practice and a few games a week. By Liam Day
For the second year in a row, Glenelg took on Marriotts Ridge for the Ice Hockey County Championship. The two teams have dominated the county for years, with the most championships in the last 10 years being between the two rival schools. However, this years result took a surprising turn from 2018 as the undefeated Marriotts Ridge, this time, came in as the favorite to win. By Amanda Sames
You walk in from the rainy, cold weather outside into the warmth of an old bowling alley, tons of people having a blast and enjoying themselves. Multiple schools are at the Brunswick-Normandy Bowling Alley on December 20, 2018, for a few games of allied bowling. By JT Shatzer
On January 4th, the Glenelg boys basketball team found themselves in one of their most competitive matches in the season against their arch rivals, The River Hill Hawks. The two teams even needed an overtime period to determine the outcome of what could be Howard County’s game of the season. |
