On January 17th, the indoor track and field team participated in the County Championships at Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex. According to Coach Johnson, the meet went well. There was a new school record and great performances from several different athletes on the team. Michael Bishop, a Senior, broke the school record for the long jump at 19’81/2”. Kirsten Crawford placed second in the 500 meter dash and was very close to breaking the school’s record. Senior Cara Nardone placed second in the 3200 meter run, which Coach Johnson said was a standout performance. The underclass girls’ 4x400 meter relay placed first in the event. The relay team consisted of three Sophomores: Kirsten Crawford, Jenny Giampalmo, and Courtney Baehr along with Freshman Megan Writt. Overall, the season was a success. The team worked hard to break records and place well in the various track meets. Comments are closed.
