With the fall season a wrap, we look back on each team's performance.

Varsity football

Picture
Coach: William Bell

Captains: Christian Chen, Logan Pusheck, Connor Reeves, Jack Hayden, Zach Lafountain

Final record: 7-4

Season highlight: Elgard trophy winners against Howard High School.

They said it best:
David Ejindu -  “Coming into the season with a new head coach, no one believed in us but ourselves, and we changed the narrative of Glenelg Football.”

Zach LaFountain - “We started the season with new coaches, and nobody believed in us. We were ranked 2nd in the county, and in our week one game against Atholton we won. People had all these thoughts about us being a one-and-done team, but a 7-4 recrod is pretty good for one-and- done.”

Field hockey

Coach: Martie Dyer

Captains: Cami Tracy, AJ Eyre, Ashley Kim, Kate Kim

Final record: 13-2

Season finish: State champions

They said it best:
AJ Eyre - “This year's season has been the best of them all. The relationships, the training, the growing, and team atmosphere have been the key to our success this year. I could not have ended my field hockey career here at Glenelg in a better way than having this be our 3rd state championship.”

Cami Tracy - “The team had a great season living up to the expectations set from last year. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to end my senior season with the best teammates.”

Boys soccer

Coach: Joseph Osborne

Captains: Dylan Ma, Vaughn Sines

Final record: 8-6-1

Season  finish:
2nd in regionals

They said it best:
Justin Zulu - “Being a pretty young team, we learned a lot and grew together. With only six seniors on the team it brought a sense of responsibility.”

Vaughn Sines -
“Our soccer season was filled with ups and downs but I couldn't have asked for a better year, with such a good group of guys.”

Dylan Ma -
“We played with a small senior class this season but the team played well together and fought hard despite a few unfortunate losses.”

Girls soccer

Picture
Coach: Vincent D’Antuono

Captains: Bella Buscher, Stephanie Lanthrop, Kailey Kasbeer-Betty, Carlin Costell

Final record:  11-3-3

They said it best:
Stephanie Lathrop - “It was a great year and we made an outstanding run in playoffs. We came a long way and there was so much to be proud of.”

Bella Buscher -
“The season had a lot of positives and some negatives but in the end everyone on the team improved a lot on and off the field and I couldn't ask for a better group of people to have been surrounded by everyday.”

Special congratulations:
Lathrop was chosen for the High School All American Game and broke the Howard County all-time scoring record (81 goals)

Cheerleading

Shelby Bush - “Our season may not have started or ended the way we hoped, but it was definitely one to remember.”

Mckenna Fisher - “The fall cheer season was an uphill climb, especially coming from a hard first competition. But I’m so proud of the team for working hard and encouraging each other enough to win the county championship.”

Volleyball

Picture
Coach: Jason Monjes

Captains: Lindsay Kelley, Lily Bae, Liesl Walter

Final record:  21-2

Season finish: State semi finalists
They said it best:
Lindsay Kelley - “My senior season could not have been more special. Going 10-1 in th county is something I never thought I would experience. All the awards and accolades the team and I got were the most deserving this year. I have never felt so bonded with a group of girls, nobody else I would want to end my high school career with.”

Nina Ejindu -“No one expected us to get as far as we did, and we couldn’t have done it without our amazing team chemistry.”

Golf

Picture
Coach: Chris Beil

Captains: Megan Krikpatrick, Ellis Waak, Mark McAllister, Aaron Roecklein

Final records: Girls 6-1; Boys 4-3

Megan Kirkpatrick (second at counties, first at districts, second at states) - “For us, this year was full of accomplishments, after finishing last at states the year before we made a lot of improvements, and this year we played a lot better during both the regular season and the postseason."

Issa Mansour - “Our team this year was a great mix of younger guys along with five senior leaders. Having strong team chemistry helped lead to success on and off the course, while coach Beil was a steady hand at the wheel all season.”
