After a neck to neck battle during the first overtime, the Gladiators dominated the second overtime and were seconds away from scoring. Head coach Nicole Trunzo stated, “We are so close to finishing. We just have to get it in.” Senior Sarah Cipolla, eliminating all the defenders, drove the ball to forward Mallory Jubb. As the ball was hit to the stroke area, senior Tess Muneses hit the ball and it successfully landed into the goal cage. Throughout the game, the Gladiators were dominating the first half, but they were unable to finish. The Arundel Wildcats became more aggressive towards the end of the game and worked their way up the field. Passing through hordes of athletes, Arundel’s Freshman Lana Hamilton and Junior Kathleen Bevans used their passing skills and vision and attempted to score. After many jaw dropping saves, keeper Rachel Barker was defeated and the Wildcats tied the game 1-1. The Wildcats earned a penalty stroke and Freshman Lana Hamilton took a strong, lift shot. The was game was very intense and the stands were screaming and stomping every second of it. As the game concluded, the Gladiators, with a win, were overly joyful and were on to prepare for the next match against South River, another aggressive team.
