The New Era of Glenelg Baseball

3/26/2018

By Matt Lipp

It was an offseason for Glenelg Baseball that will bring major change to the program. A coaching change was made to bring in a whole new staff led by Head Coach Steve Tiffany. With multiple starters returning, Coach Tiffany will have a strong roster to work with in his first year at Glenelg.

Seniors Tyler Curtiss, Seth Taylor, and Chris Reece return after solid Junior campaigns. The team is also loaded with young talent including Juniors Tad Henley and Hunter Koele, along with stud Sophomore Eddie Dello Russo. After a great season in 2017, Glenelg Baseball looks to take another step towards their goal of a County Title.

The offense should be the strong suit for the team with a solid middle of the lineup featuring Henley, Curtiss, and Dello Russo. Henley is coming off of a Second Team All-County season in which he was considered one of the best left-handed hitters in the County. “Tad looks like he will build off of his great season last year. He worked hard in the offseason on his strength which will make him even more dangerous”, Coach Tiffany mentioned. Both Henley and Dello Russo are also set to lead Glenelg’s pitching rotation this season. With high expectations set for both players, there is a lot of pressure on them to succeed. “Eddie is easily going to be one of the best players in the county when he is a Senior. He already played at a high level as a Freshman which is very impressive”, said Senior Eddie Leimbach.

Glenelg is definitely a team to keep an eye on this upcoming season as they should be one of the better teams in the county. Coach Tiffany has a plethora of talent to work with so it shouldn’t take much time at all to get Glenelg back to the top of Howard County baseball. There is a lot to be excited for this spring.
